MY STORY.
James Newman Is a singer/songwriter/producer who started his career performing in small clubs and outdoor events In Colorado Springs, and Aspen Colorado. James has recorded one self-produced ep "Grow" under the James Newman Band. James is currently recording a new album under the name Athenia Stares with guest musician Kelli Scott of Failure on some songs. *James is currently enrolled and on the Deans list at the Berklee College of Music pursuing a Bachelor's in music production.
Artist Statement
Music has been a healing part of my life since I was a small child. I feel it gave me a voice when I could not speak and filled me with emotions before I even knew what they were. I am a passionate musician, engineer, sound designer, and producer who wants to grow the culture of music and cultivate the human spirit.
Inclusivity, kindness, and humility are driving beliefs I have as a person. I include these in my purpose for creation.
My experiences offer a view of a victim and a survivor. A resource for others who have experienced trauma or addiction.
I credit the sounds of the North American Forest. As the reset to anything I'm working on. Nature is a beautiful cleanser.
My instruments are guitars, vocals, keyboards, strings, woodwinds, brass and drums. Sound design and acoustic engineering. Open to all forms of music and Ideas.
When producing, I pay close attention to the intent and any emotion being expressed. I will search for the truth in performance and Artist. I will bring out the best possible recording.
Powerful music is healing, Punk Rock can feel rejuvenating to the right ears. Lets make an amazing recording of your ART.
